Top 4 Travel Blogging Sites

Submitted by TravMonkey on July 20, 2009 – 10:17 pm2 Comments

Want to keep a diary whilst travelling? Want your friends and family to be able to access it at will instead of bombarding them with lengthy emails?

An online travel blogging site is what you are looking for, but which one?

Often before setting off on your trip of a life time everything goes so quickly, organising and planning. Usually the last thing on your mind is finding a good site to set up your travel blog.

Well fear not, we have a great list of some of the top travel blogging sites.

www.travelpod.com

TravelPod is a great travel blogging site that lets you post diary entries as you go a long, whilst plotting your travel progress on a map. As you would imagine it supports your travel photos and videos. TravelPod was the first online travel blog site founded way back in 1997.  I’ve used TravelPod myself in the past and found it ideal for keeping an online record of where you are and what you are up to.

www.getjealous.com

A big favourite with smug people leaving it all behind for months of travel, get jealous is actually a pretty slick site. It supplies you with a diary, a place for photo/videos, a map and even a message board.

www.travbuddy.com

TravBuddy is a great site for travel information as well as for creating your online travel blog. The site encourages more of a community feel than the likes of TravelPod, users can comment on your public blog and also smile at certain photos and posts. My own travel blog is hosted here and I would very much recommend it. (Editor – Paul’s travel blog)

www.offexploring.com

Offexploring is one of the newer travel blogs and offers the usual features as well as being compatible with facebook. It has a pleasant layout and appearance but lacks a little in detailed navigation.

The best approach to choosing the perfect travel blogging site for you is to test them out for yourself. You can view public blogs on most of the travel blog sites so you can get an idea of what your own blog will look like.
