TravMonkey’s Weekly World Travel Round Up 12/10/09

Madrid

This week I took a trip to Madrid, Spain.

This week I caused a bit of a stir on the BootsnAll website with my article on Is Flashpacking Killing The Art Of Backpacking. My intention was to open a debate on whether or how much  flashpacking is a different experience to backpacking. Although most commentators seemed to disagree with my view it was interesting to see such an interest in the topic.

Also this week Hostel Bookers launched the Hostel Bookers Photo Competition where all budding photographers have the chance to win a copy of Earthbound: A Rough Guide to the World in Pictures every week. The first topic of the competition is Actives and if you’re quick you maybe able to submit your photo for this weeks round.

Lastly, a shout out to Hostel One Centro in Madrid, Spain. I stayed there for three night last weekend and had a great time, lots of friendly staff, good location, nice kitchen/lounge and even pro evo soccer on the PlayStation! I booked it through our friends at Hostel Bookers and would definitely recommend.
