Australian Erin Langworthy fell from the Victoria Falls bridge into the Zambesi River after her bungee cord snapped on new years eve. Erin was forced to battle the rapids with both feet still tied with her bungee cord as she was swept down river.
Ms Langworthy was treated at Victoria Falls clinic in Zimbabwe before being evacuated to South Africa. You can see a more in depth article from the Herald Sun – Australian woman survives 111m bungee fall into the Zambezi River.
The bungee jump was organised by Safari Par Excellence.
Way back in 2007 I did a bungee jump in New Zealand. I felt reassured as the company involved was A. J. Hackett who have a long history of bungee jumping and indeed were pioneers and inventors of modern day bungy jumping. They seemed extremely professional and took safety very seriously, I think it’s important that you are comfortable with the company involved when doing any extreme sports.
Have you done a bungee jump? Did you have safety concerns? Would you do one again?
