Balearic Islands

The Balearic Islands is the collective name for the Spanish archipelago off the east coast of the motherland that includes the infamous Ibiza Island. Other large islands include Majorca, Minorca and Formentera. As they form part of Spain, the currency remains in Euros.

Castilian (Spanish) and Catalan are the main spoken languages.

The islands are popular with tourists because of the abundance of sunshine, phenomenal beaches and of course party lifestyle.

Traditional craftsmanship predates the nightlife and still continues. They make everything from furniture to various artworks and embroidered products.

Some islands do have beautiful coves but sightseeing is mainly focussed on the various beaches. Nude bathing, in case you have been living in a bunker for the last 50 years, is very popular so no need to pack swimming trunks if you are so inclined. Water parks will entertain the young and the young at heart. They offer more than just rides and include Dolphin shows and other attractions.

If it is possible to get tired of the white beaches, then there are natural parks and archaeological sites to occupy your time with. Phoenicians, Romans… The islands also have horse tracks and other equestrian centres.
