Despite reports of the rudeness of the Parisians, millions flock to see the various attractions, from the Eiffel Tower to the Moulin Rouge. Spring is the most popular time to visit, but the smart tourist opts for autumn or early winter.There is more to France than Paris. The Film Festival in Cannes is the bastion of movie culture and frequented by the rich and famous. Every wine connoisseur must pay homage to Bordeaux. The list of cities to visit is long, Toulouse, Nice, Avignon, Marseille; these and many more cities each offer a tapestry of rich French culture.There is something for everyone. Those in search of glamour can’t go wrong visiting the Côte D'Azur or French Riviera. Those on a tighter budget or keen to avoid the crowds would do well to explore rural France. The Provençal lifestyle down south is for the food lover. Olive oil, garlic, basil...You need not stay on the mainland though. Just like the diminutive comic hero, you might want to pop over to the island of Corsica and enjoy the natural beauty of it’s dramatic landscape, not least of all the breathtaking cliffs. The hiking trails are excellent and the beaches are fantastic.Spain, Germany and Italy are right next door and totally different! Polish up your French and pack some Euros.
