London has a generous amount of green spaces for a large metropolitan city. From Hyde Park to Kew Gardens, there is no shortage of places to spend an afternoon walking through the greenery and enjoying the outdoors. The following are some of the best parks in London:
St James’s Park

London Eye visible from St James's Park
With beautiful gardens, a large lake, and bird species from all over the world, St James’s Park is one of the most picturesque parks in central London. Visitors can spend an afternoon admiring the birds, watching the squirrels, or having lunch on the terrace of the Inn the Park restaurant.
Hyde Park

The Round Pond, Hyde Park
Perhaps the most famous park in London, Hyde Park is also one of the most vistied. Many people go boating on the Serpentine lake in the summertime, or visit the stunning Serpentine Gallery to see contemporary art exhibitions. There are also many walking paths and gardens to keep people entertained throughout the year.
Hampstead Heath

Up in north London, Hampstead Heath is a rugged swath of land that makes visitors feel like they have left the city for the countryside. The famous Parliament Hill has stunning views over the city center, and Kenwood House is home to a great art museum.
Richmond Park

Southwest London’s Richmond Park is a great place for a long walk or deer spotting. The park is near the bustling high street and the Thames, making it a great place for a day out in the summer.
Kew Gardens

Palm House Bontanic Garden at Kew Gardens
The Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew are some of the most famous of their kind in the world. The gardens boast species from Africa to Asia, North America to Australia, and the stunning conservatories are renowned for their beauty. Kew Gardens makes a great day trip from central London.
Battersea Park

Just south of the river, Battersea Park has something for everyone. With sports fields, lakes, gardens, and children’s play areas, the park is a great place to spend a day with friends or family.

I can’t help but think of Richmond Park with the soundtrack of ‘Fenton! Fenton! Jesus Christ… Fenton!’
Haha that’s what I was thinking when I read it… I think I prefer the mistaken name “Benton!”.
I’d add Primrose Hill to this list! 🙂
I was thinking that too actually; Primrose Hill is usually much quiter and has great city views too. The walk to the top is a bit of a mission, but definitely worth it. Whilst we’re on the subject, there’s a wonderful quiant cafe on Regent’s Park Road next to The Queens pub – perhaps cup o’ tea!
Yeah, Primrose Hill is a great one as well!
Regent’s Park is beautiful, especially Queen Mary’s Garden with that stunning duck pond that has black swans and the Open Air Theatre.
Yeh it’s a massive space… I play football in the summer on Regent’s Park. London has some great open spaces.
Park and Museum are two ways to discover London in a free way.
